Built for attorneys who know their jurisdiction.

Barrista is a legal content and referral network where verified attorneys publish jurisdiction-precise analysis — and find colleagues who can take cases they can't.

The problem we're solving

Most legal content online is either too generic to be useful ("What is a non-compete agreement?") or locked behind a paywall that keeps it from the people who actually need it. Platforms like JD Supra have valuable analysis — but no way to filter by state, so a California employment attorney's article about AB 5 shows up alongside a Delaware opinion about the same topic, and readers can't tell which applies to them.

Referrals, meanwhile, happen through text threads and LinkedIn DMs. A personal injury attorney in Dallas who gets a call from a client needing a New York immigration lawyer has no good way to find a verified referral. They guess, or they pass.

What Barrista does

We built three things that belong together:

01

The Content Hub

Jurisdiction-first articles from bar-verified attorneys. Every piece is tagged by practice area and state, so readers find what actually applies to their situation. Original — never scraped, never republished.

02

Verified Directory

Bar-number verified attorneys searchable by practice area × state. Not self-reported credentials — we check the state bar databases. Attorneys with a track record of publishing here get visibility.

03

Referral Board

Attorneys post what they need — a case referral, an expert for a client question, an article on a specific issue. Verified attorneys who match claim and respond. No money changes hands on this platform. Ever.

Why free?

Content quality collapses when attorneys have to pay per article or per referral. We've watched what happens when platforms put a price on referrals — state bars issue ethics opinions, firms stop participating, and the network dies. We're not going there.

Barrista is free to read and free to publish. We earn through premium firm listings, sponsored placement in directory results, and CLE event partnerships — not by taking a cut of anything your clients pay you.

Who can publish

Any attorney with an active bar license in the U.S. We verify bar numbers against state bar APIs before approving an account. Once approved, you can publish original analysis, claim article requests from the board, or respond to referral opportunities.

We do a light editorial review before publishing — mostly checking that the piece is jurisdiction-specific, original, and not a thinly disguised advertisement. We don't edit your legal analysis.

Apply to ContributeTakes about 5 minutes. We review within 48 hours.

Dispute and correction

If you're an attorney listed in our directory and your information is wrong, or if you want to be removed, email us at corrections@barrista.intercore.net. We'll fix or remove your listing within 48 hours. No runaround.

If you find an article that contains a legal error or a factual inaccuracy, use the "Report" link on the article page. We'll flag it for review and reach out to the author.
