1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Barrista ("the Platform," "we," "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. These terms apply to all visitors, registered users, and contributors.

2. Description of Service

Barrista is a legal content hub and attorney referral network. We provide:

  • A searchable directory of attorneys and law firms
  • Original legal content published by verified attorney contributors
  • A referral request board where attorneys can post and claim case referrals
  • CLE event listings and professional development resources

Barrista is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Content on this Platform is for informational purposes only. For advice about your specific legal situation, consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.

3. No Referral Fees

Barrista does not charge per-referral fees, take a percentage of case value, or accept payment tied to case outcomes. Our revenue model relies exclusively on premium directory tiers, sponsored placement, and CLE event fees. Any arrangement that constitutes fee-splitting under applicable state bar rules is strictly prohibited on this Platform.

4. Attorney Listings and Directory

Attorney profiles may be created from publicly available bar registry data. If you are an attorney listed on Barrista and wish to claim, correct, or remove your profile, use the Claim Profile or Dispute a Listing pages. We will process requests within 5 business days.

Verified status ("✓ Verified") is granted to attorneys who complete our verification process and maintain an active bar license. Barrista does not guarantee the accuracy of bar status, practice area information, or contact details for any attorney.

5. Content Contributions

Contributors who submit articles grant Barrista a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to publish, display, and distribute that content on the Platform. Contributors represent that:

  • They are the original author of the submitted content
  • The content does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights
  • The content complies with applicable bar advertising rules in their jurisdiction
  • The content does not constitute specific legal advice to identified individuals

Barrista reserves the right to edit, decline, or remove any content at its discretion.

6. Prohibited Uses

You may not use the Platform to:

  • Violate any federal, state, or local law or regulation
  • Impersonate any attorney, firm, or other person or entity
  • Post false, misleading, or deceptive information
  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically collect data from the Platform
  • Transmit spam, unsolicited commercial messages, or malware
  • Circumvent access controls or security features
  • Violate any applicable state bar rules of professional conduct

7. Intellectual Property

All Platform design, code, logos, and non-contributed content are owned by Barrista / Intercore Technologies and protected by copyright. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.

Attorney names, bar numbers, and publicly recorded professional information are factual data not subject to copyright protection.

8. Disclaimers

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. BARRISTA DOES NOT WARRANT THAT DIRECTORY INFORMATION IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR CURRENT. USE OF ANY ATTORNEY FOUND THROUGH THIS PLATFORM IS SOLELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BARRISTA AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM OR ANY ATTORNEY REFERRAL MADE THROUGH IT.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes shall be resolved in courts of competent jurisdiction in Delaware.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will post the "Last Updated" date above when changes occur.
