He also approaches business disputes with equal determination. Mr. Branson’s academic journey began at Texas Christian University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1967. He then obtained his Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 1969 and later achieved a Master of Laws from the same institution in 1974. Admitted to the State Bar of Texas, he is also authorized to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Western and Northern Districts of Texas, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th and 8th Circuits and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has also achieved top verdicts in Texas in 2007, 2009, 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2018, including a notable $242 million verdict against Toyota, which was the largest product liability verdict in 2018 and the fifth-largest verdict overall in Texas. Mr. Branson’s excellence has been consistently recognized since 1987, with his inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America. His accolades include the Dallas Bar Association Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2010 and the Lawyer of the Year in Dallas/Fort Worth in 2012 and 2014 for his work in product liability litigation and medical malpractice. In 2019, he was named to the list of Elite Trial Lawyers by The National Law Journal. Furthermore, D Magazine has repeatedly featured Mr. Branson in its annual "Best Lawyers in Dallas" list, and he received the Teddy Roosevelt "Man in the Arena" Award from the Association of Plaintiff Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America in 2011.
