His legal competence extends to civil rights litigation, criminal defense, employment law, and civil and criminal appeals. Hailing from the San Luis Valley in Colorado, Mr. Vance's journey began at Adams State College, where he earned his undergraduate degree in 1994. To support his education, he spent summers driving semi-trucks across the country and worked locally during the academic year. He pursued his passion for law at the University of Nebraska, graduating with honors in 1997. During his time in law school, he gained valuable experience clerking for the Honorable Donald Endacott in Lincoln, Nebraska. Mr. Vance embarked on his legal career in 1997 at a firm in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he initially defended negligent drivers in auto and truck collision cases for various insurance companies. However, in 2000, he shifted his focus to championing the rights of the injured, vowing never to return to defending negligent parties. In 2005, Mr. Vance further honed his trial skills by attending Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College, an intensive month-long program in Dubois, Wyoming. His dedication and expertise have led him to successfully try numerous jury and bench trials, securing millions of dollars in damages for his clients. Mr. Vance's professional affiliations are a testament to his commitment to justice. He is a member of the Litigation Counsel of America, the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association, the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association (where he serves as a board member) and the American Association for Justice. His peers have recognized his excellence with an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell, and he holds a "Superb" score on Avvo, among other accolades. *AV®, AV Preeminent®, Martindale-Hubbell Distinguished and Martindale-Hubbell Notable are certification marks used under license in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies.
