Biography
Alissa D. Hascup, an accomplished trial attorney and a Partner at the firm in the Criminal Practice Group and the Accidents/Personal Injury Practice Group, is known for her strategic advocacy and extensive courtroom experience. A former Morris County Assistant Prosecutor and Municipal Prosecutor, she is also a Certified Criminal Trial Attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey. Alissa has handled complex and high-stakes matters throughout her career and has built a reputation for thorough preparation, sharp legal analysis, and persuasive courtroom advocacy. She represents both adult and juvenile clients across New Jersey in criminal defense matters as well as plaintiffs in personal injury matters, applying the same investigative rigor and litigation skills developed during her years as a prosecutor.
Alissa has spent more than a decade defending clients who have been charged with serious crimes, including murder, kidnapping, robbery, burglary, sexual offenses, weapons offenses, drug offenses, crimes involving domestic violence, DWI, and other serious motor vehicle offenses.
On behalf of individuals who have been seriously injured as a result of another party’s negligence, Alissa litigates complex personal injury cases, including automobile, motorcycle, and trucking accidents, dog bites, slip-and-fall and premises liability, incidents involving public entities, products liability, malpractice, and wrongful death matters.
She has significant trial experience in Superior and Municipal Courts across New Jersey, including in Morris, Essex, Passaic, Middlesex, and Bergen counties. Alissa is committed to helping her clients navigate and understand the often-complex justice system, guiding them through challenging legal circumstances with clear communication, careful preparation, and strong advocacy.
Alissa began her legal career as an associate, working with two criminal defense and plaintiff’s personal injury firms in Monmouth County and Essex County prior to joining the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office in 2009. She was initially assigned to serve as an Assistant Prosecutor in the Domestic Violence Unit, where she prosecuted domestic violence restraining order violations and related assault and harassment cases. She was quickly promoted to the Trial Unit, where she prosecuted defendants for crimes including attempted murder, robbery, weapons offenses, drug offenses, endangering the welfare of children, and aggravated sexual assault. Alissa also worked with the Major Crimes Unit, responding to crime scenes, assisting with witness and suspect interviews, and preparing search warrants.
