Biography

Amy L. Shapiro, after almost 45 years of practicing law and advocating for her clients, has pivoted her practice and is currently handling mediations and arbitrations in family law in the areas of divorce, paternity, support, property division and post judgement matters. As a mediator, Attorney Shapiro brings her skills in listening and problem solving to parties, helping them devise mutually agreeable and often creative solutions, avoiding further litigation and costs. Trained extensively in various types of mediation, she uses her depth of experience in tailoring the process to the parties and their unique situations. She mediates with self-represented parties as well as providing mediation to parties who are represented by counsel but have reached impasse. Attorney Shapiro also handles family law arbitrations in conjunction with represented individuals in post judgment matters. Attorney Shapiro has a J.D from Boston University School of Law and an undergraduate degree in philosophy from the University of Michigan. She has also been trained extensively in mediation and collaborative divorce. She is a past President and board member of the Leander J. Foley Jr. Matrimonial American Inns of Court and a member of the Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin.
