- he attended Kansas City Kansas Community College. He was elected as President of the Freshman class and was a special assistant to the President. He attended Kansas State University and was the first African-American member of the Varsity Debate Team. He was awarded the inaugural Martin Luther King scholarship for academic achievement He attended the University of Kansas School of law and was dually enrolled in the Graduate School of Public Administration.
