Biography
Aubrey Burton, Jr. is a solo practitioner and the principal of Burton Firm, LLC, located in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Attorney Burton concentrates his practice on family law, guardianships, and litigation, providing thoughtful, strategic representation to individuals and families facing complex legal challenges. He is particularly experienced in military-related family law matters, bringing both legal skill and firsthand military insight to cases involving service members and their families.

Attorney Burton served as an officer in the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Corps Reserve, where he developed a disciplined, service-oriented approach to legal practice. His military background enhances his ability to address the unique legal issues faced by active-duty service members, reservists, veterans, and their families, particularly in matters involving divorce, custody, and guardianships.
In addition to representing civilian clients, Attorney Burton has provided training and legal guidance to judge advocates in the National Capital Region on Maryland family law and guardianship issues.
Before founding Burton Firm, LLC, Attorney Burton practiced as an associate attorney at Meng & Alpert, LLC and the Law Offices of George E. Meng, where he handled a wide range of family law matters. He also served as a judicial law clerk at the United States District Court for the District of Columbia and the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, gaining valuable insight into judicial decision-making and courtroom procedure. Attorney Burton has also served as faculty at the Judicial College of Maryland – Family Law University, where he taught various subjects in family law to new and experienced judges and magistrates in the State of Maryland. Furthermore, Attorney Burton has been appointed by the Court to serve as an investigator in guardianship matters, best interests attorney in custody cases, and trustee to to sell real property in contested divorce matters.
