A Trial Lawyer in the Top Fraction of a Percent
Of the roughly 1.3 million active attorneys in the United States, the vast majority will never take a case to a jury verdict—let alone secure a seven-figure result. Most personal injury cases settle quietly, often for modest sums. Lawyers who consistently win multi-million-dollar jury verdicts across diverse practice areas represent a vanishingly small fraction of the profession. Cesar Tavares is one of them.
With over a dozen jury verdicts exceeding $1 million, two Top 10 Verdicts in Texas in a single year, and dozens of seven- and eight-figure settlements totaling well over $100 million in recoveries for his clients, Cesar’s track record places him in elite company among trial lawyers nationwide.
Why These Numbers Matter
Insurance companies and corporate defendants track which attorneys actually go to trial—and which ones don’t. They know that most lawyers will accept a lowball settlement rather than face the risk, expense, and pressure of a courtroom. That calculus changes entirely when the attorney on the other side has a proven record of winning at trial. Cesar’s extensive verdict history is not just a list of accomplishments—it is leverage that directly benefits every client he represents, because defendants know he will follow through.
From Mexico City to Harvard Law
Cesar’s willingness to go the distance for his clients comes as no surprise to the people who know him. He was born in Mexico City and immigrated to the United States as a young child. He became the first person in his family to graduate from college—earning his associate’s degree from Utah Valley University in 2003, then graduating cum laude from Brigham Young University just two years later with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. He achieved all of this while caring for his family and working full-time.
He went on to attend Harvard Law School, where he once again graduated cum laude in 2009. The same determination that carried him from Mexico City to Cambridge now drives his relentless advocacy for injured workers, families, and individuals across the country.
