Biography
Chris Layton is the founder and lead attorney of The Layton Law Firm, where he has been practicing law in Charlotte since 2000. His practice focuses on protecting the interests of people who have been hurt due to the actions of others—including victims of vicious dog attacks, devastating car accidents, and nursing home abuse and neglect. The firm also helps clients who have found themselves in financial straits, guiding them through bankruptcy and working to preserve as much of their assets as possible.
Chris chose to become a lawyer to protect people who would be taken advantage of without strong legal advocacy, and that dedication to his clients shows in the firm's strong record of successful results. He founded The Layton Law Firm in 2011 after previously founding and managing Radey and Layton, PLLC from 2001 to 2009.
Chris earned his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Maryland at College Park and his Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law. He is admitted to the North Carolina State Bar and the Federal Courts for the Western and Middle Districts of North Carolina. He is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, the Mecklenburg County Bar, and the Federal Bar Association – Western District of North Carolina.
Beyond his practice, Chris serves as a Continuing Legal Education Presenter at The Likeable Lawyer, where he writes and educates lawyers across the country.
Chris lives in Charlotte with his wife Genevieve, a native of Concord, North Carolina, their two children who attend Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, and their yellow lab, Fisher. He enjoys hiking, and when he's not litigating in the courtroom, he's performing stand-up comedy onstage. As an active member of the Charlotte community, Chris can often be found participating in community events and charity work—his compassion and caring extend beyond the courtroom and into his community at large.
