Biography

The principal attorney at Hager Law, LLC, Christopher W. Hager focuses his practice primarily on employment law matters. Located in Morristown, New Jersey, he provides representation to residents of New Jersey who have been victims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, which includes whistleblowers. The types of employment cases that Mr. Hager has been involved in and tried to juries have arisen under the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, Conscientious Employee Protection (whistleblower) Act, and other statutes. His successes for employment clients include a $15 million jury verdict for a tenured public school special education teacher with multiple sclerosis that was forced to resign (which was vacated by the trial judge and then settled before retrial), a $1.87 million jury verdict and award for a victim of disability discrimination, $2 million settlement during a jury trial on behalf of a visually disabled public school nurse, and several multi-million dollar settlements for victims of discrimination including age and disability. Mr. Hager also has a personal injury practice in which he has represented clients who have been permanently harmed by the negligence of other parties. Some of his representative successes include a verdict in excess of $7 million on behalf of a young doctor permanently injured by negligence in a Port Authority PATH station (which was reversed on appeal and then settled with another victory on retrial), and more than $7 million on behalf of family members who were catastrophically injured in an SUV rollover (which was reduced by the trial judge to almost $5.2 million and upheld on appeal). He is certified in civil trial law by the Board on Attorney Certification, which was established in 1980 by the Supreme Court of New Jersey. Mr. Hager is a graduate of Montclair State University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude in 1990. His legal education came at Rutgers School of Law–Newark, where he served as the editor-in-chief of the Rutgers Computer and Technology Law Journal before being awarded his Juris Doctor in 1994. Admitted to practice in New Jersey, Mr. Hager is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 2nd and 3rd Circuits.
