He’s known for his drive, focus, and relentless work ethic—qualities shaped by real-life experience, not just textbooks or courtrooms. Born in New Jersey to Cuban immigrant parents and raised in Florida, Edward learned early that nothing in life comes easy. If he wanted something, he had to work for it. He started earning money as a kid by mowing lawns and constantly looking for ways to get ahead. He became a father while still in high school—a life-changing moment that forced him to grow up quickly and stay focused on building a future. Together with his high school girlfriend—now his wife and fellow attorney, Maria Jesús Reyes—they worked hard to create a stable life for their children and themselves. At 17, Edward was involved in a serious car accident that opened his eyes to how frustrating and confusing the legal and insurance systems can be. He was injured and getting the runaround from the insurance company. The lawyer he hired barely spoke to him or explained anything. That experience stuck with him. In sharp contrast, the chiropractor who treated him took the time to explain each step of his recovery, and that left a lasting impression. Inspired by that experience, Edward earned his massage therapy license and even considered chiropractic school.
