Biography
Eric Schaefer is a Senior Associate and Head of Litigation at Marcari, Russotto, Spencer & Balaban, where he has been a key member of the firm since joining in July 2020. Promoted to lead the firm’s litigation efforts in March 2024, Eric brings a depth of experience and a results-driven approach to complex, high-stakes cases.
Eric has built his career as a trial attorney, handling challenging and sophisticated matters from inception through trial and, when necessary, on appeal. His extensive litigation background spans a wide range of practice areas, including personal injury, childhood sexual abuse, federal aviation, premises liability, defamation, construction defect, civil rights violations under 42 U.S.C. §1983, commercial litigation, and breach of contract. Notably, he has presented appellate oral arguments before the California Court of Appeal on behalf of major institutional clients, including the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles Unified School District.
At the firm, Eric plays a critical role in complex litigation, including significant involvement in Camp Lejeune water contamination cases. He is known for his strategic mindset, meticulous case preparation, and unwavering commitment to securing the best possible outcomes for his clients—whether through negotiated settlements or at trial.
Eric earned his Bachelor of Music in Double Bass Performance from Northwestern University in 2009 before obtaining his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 2012. He began his legal career in Los Angeles, where he practiced for several years before relocating to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2018.
He is admitted to practice in California and North Carolina, as well as multiple federal courts, including the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and the Eastern, Western and Middle Districts of North Carolina.
