Attorney Francis Patrick Murphy is a partner at Corboy & Demetrio in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Murphy has more than 40 years of experience representing Chicago-area plaintiffs in personal injury cases. He handles matters involving aviation accidents, construction accidents, deck accidents, premises liability, product liability, railroad accidents, automobile accidents and vehicular negligence.
Mr. Murphy has secured numerous multimillion-dollar settlements and verdicts for his clients over the years. He has been involved in high-profile cases featured on national media networks and has served as a legal commentator for Fox 32 Chicago.
Mr. Murphy has earned an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating with Martindale-Hubbell and the distinction of being named one of the “nation’s top one percent” by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel. He was also named one of the “top 500 lawyers in the nation” by Lawdragon.
He has been selected to Illinois Super Lawyers for 17 years in a row, and has been selected to The Best Lawyers in America since 2020.
In addition to his practice, Mr. Murphy has spoken to various bar associations and has authored many articles. He has served as an adjunct professor at Loyola University School of Law since 1987.
Active in his legal community, Mr. Murphy is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice and the Society of Trial Lawyers. He serves as President of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Lawyers’ Assistance Program and serves on the Board of Directors of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. In 2019, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Catholic Lawyers Guild of Chicago.
Mr. Murphy received a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and earned his law degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent College of Law. He is admitted to practice in all Illinois state courts and before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
