Biography
Gilbert T. Adams, a Beaumont native, graduated from Beaumont High School and Lamar University. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the South Texas College of Law in 1968.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Adams returned to Beaumont to join the Firm founded by his father in 1930 and continued to practice with his father and other members of the firm until his father’s death in 1984. There are five members of the Law Offices of Gilbert T. Adams. His son, Gilbert Adams, III joined the firm in 1994 after graduating from Baylor University.
Mr. Adams is licensed to practice before the U.S. District Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit; the U.S. Supreme Court; and the U.S. District Court, Northern, Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas. He is certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Mr. Adams is a former President of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and former President of the South East Texas State Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Adams is a member of the Board of Governors of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America Political Action Committee. He is a Fellow Member of the Texas Trial Lawyers of America. He is Vice Chair of the Pattern Jury Charge Committee and a member of the Oversight Sub-Committee of the State Bar Jury Charge Committee. He is a Member of the Trial Lawyers for Public Justice and a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. Mr. Adams has written many articles for publication and is a speaker for numerous CLE programs.
Mr. Adams is a plaintiff’s attorney representing consumers, individuals, businessmen, partnerships and estates who have suffered injury and damage from illegal or unlawful conduct.
Mr. Adams was elected Jefferson County Democratic Chair in 1988 and serves today in that capacity. He is active in County Chairs Association of Texas and the Texas Democratic Roundtable.
