About Lexinter
James T. Fitzsimmons is a trial lawyer at Fitzsimmons Law Firm PLC., with decades of experience representing injured people and workers across Iowa and Nebraska. His practice focuses on personal injury law, workers’ compensation, and insurance bad faith claims. Since his admission to the bar in 1992, he has handled complex disputes involving injuries, workplace accidents, and insurance coverage issues. He also practices before state and federal courts, including the US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Clients value his preparation, advocacy, judgment, and commitment.
James earned his B.A. in Communications, Philosophy, and Business from Creighton University. He also earned his J.D. from Creighton University in 1992. While in law school, he served as Vice-President of the Student Bar Association and President of the Moot Court Board. He further strengthened his trial skills through the Keenan Trial Institute, graduating in 2019 and completing the Masters Graduate program in 2020. His dedication to legal education continued through faculty service beginning in 2020. This training supports a practical, persuasive, and client-focused approach in litigation and courtroom advocacy effectively.
James has held leadership roles in professional organizations that support lawyers and injured workers throughout his career. He has served on committees addressing workers’ compensation rules, continuing legal education, jury instructions, and professional standards. His work has contributed to discussions about legal practice and fair outcomes within the justice system. He also authored the Iowa chapter of a national publication examining negligence law and foreseeability. These efforts reflect deep knowledge of litigation and legal procedure across many matters and ethics.
James T. Fitzsimmons has earned recognition from professional organizations, including selection to the National Trial Lawyers Top 100.
