Biography

Jim Bulger is a personal injury attorney who focuses his practice on helping people who have been harmed by negligence, including those who have suffered catastrophic injuries, school sex abuse, and elder abuse. He fights exclusively on behalf of injured individuals—he does not represent insurance companies or large corporations. Jim began caring for others at an early age. He grew up in Levittown, New York, where his family took in foster children, starting with babies left behind by the crack epidemic in the 1980s. Over the years, his family cared for more than one hundred children. Jim carries with him the lessons he learned from being a big brother to so many siblings, and he cares deeply about helping people who might not have the tools to help themselves. It wasn't always plaintiffs' work for Jim. He started his legal career on Wall Street at the international law firm Milbank Tweed, where he was a corporate bankruptcy lawyer representing banks, hedge funds, and other creditors in some of the largest corporate bankruptcies in history, including Enron and Lehman Brothers. Since finding his calling as a plaintiffs' lawyer, Jim draws on the skills, toughness, and discipline he gained working in one of the most competitive environments on earth to advocate for people who have been injured through negligence. He stands up to insurance companies that use their vast resources to minimize compensation for injured people. Before co-founding Seber Bulger LLP with his good friend Jonathan Seber, Jim worked as a litigation attorney at Heimberg Barr LLP, where he handled complex medical malpractice and catastrophic injury matters. He brings that knowledge and training to his current practice, representing clients from all walks of life who have suffered injuries including spinal cord injuries, birth injuries, and elder abuse. Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from Boston University in 1997 and his law degree from Fordham University School of Law in 2003. He is licensed to practice in California and New York and is based in Los Angeles.
