“On January 19, 2016, my life changed forever. Driving home from court in my Honda Civic I fully stopped behind a citrus semi-truck and without any warning was violently rear ended by a Ford F-150 traveling roughly 50 mph. The force of the impact shoved my car underneath the back of the citrus truck in front of me crushing my car like an accordion stopping moments before the trailer did the unthinkable. The injuries sustained resulted in painful treatment and massive surgery to insert hardware to stabilize my spine. I was out of work for 13 months. As a 39-year-old with an 18-month-old baby my life was literally and figuratively turned upside down. This horrible event left me devastated, depressed and a shell of myself. The tremendous toll the accident took on my first responder husband and family was the darkest and most grueling time of my life.”
