Biography

Meet Mark A. Galloway — a dedicated attorney guiding Kansas families with compassion and integrity. My wife and I have been blessed with seven children, including five through adoption, and we have been given four wonderful grandchildren. Among our children is one who is autistic and non-verbal, a blessing who continually teaches us patience and perspective. We have also walked through deep loss -- the deaths of a child and a grandchild -- which has deepened our compassion for others who face pain. In spite of the pain, faith has helped us have peace and choose to be happy. Though I have a background in martial arts, I don't practice as often as I'd like. When I'm not working, you'll most likely find me spending time with my family or exploring the world of forex and currency trading. I did not set out to become a Medicaid planning attorney. When I enrolled at Washburn University School of Law, my plan was constitutional law. But when I started studying estate taxes and how much families were losing to the government, I thought: “people need to know they can stop this.” That pulled me into estate planning. Over time, the federal estate tax exemption grew from $600,000 to over $15 million per person, and 96% of Kansans no longer face that problem. But long-term care costs were a different story. I heard story after story of people losing everything they had worked decades to build -- at $8,000 or more per month -- and realized that was the problem worth solving. I earned an LL.M. in Elder Law from the University of Kansas and an LL.M. in Tax from Boston University to make sure I had the deepest possible command of both.
