Biography
Matt Hansberry is a lifelong West Virginia resident with experience representing clients in a wide variety of matters throughout the state. Before opening his own law firm on January 1, 2016, Matt worked for approximately eight years in the Labor and Employment Department of a well-respected civil defense firm and then approximately two years for the world’s largest employment law defense firm at the time. On January 1, 2023, Matt Hansberry and Eddie Wagoner merged their practices to create their current law firm, Hansberry & Wagoner, PLLC.
Matt Hansberry’s practice is focused on the areas of labor and employment law. Matt has been recognized several times by Super Lawyers magazine as a “Rising Star” in employment litigation in West Virginia. For 2020 through 2023, he was recognized by The Best Lawyers in America publication for his work in labor and employment litigation. As acknowledged in that publication, for 2023, Matt was recognized by his peers as “Lawyer of the Year” in the Morgantown region for his work in two practice areas: (1) Litigation – Labor and Employment and (2) Employment Law – Individuals. Only one lawyer in each practice area and community is honored by The Best Lawyers in America publication with a “Lawyer of the Year” award.
