Matthew Slater is a partner and director of the tort litigation and employment practice group at Tentindo, Kendall, Canniff & Keefe, LLP, in Charlestown, Massachusetts. He has obtained court orders from the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Bombay High Court. Furthermore, his competence extends to serving as a special assistant attorney general, defending litigation against the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office.
In a recent achievement, Mr. Slater secured a favorable defense verdict for a multinational shipping company in a case involving a dislodged driveshaft, resulting in approximately $300,000.00 in damages. He also achieved a complete acquittal and defense verdict for a client facing serious charges from the commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Mr. Slater is a distinguished honors graduate from Skidmore College (2000) and the University of Miami School of Law (2003). At law school, he earned significant recognition from the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers for his exceptional advocacy skills. Not only this, but he also secured a place on the editorial board of the University of Miami's International & Comparative Law Review and was a participating member of Phi Alpha Delta.
Additionally, Mr. Slater penned “Trumpeting Justice: The Implications of U.S. Law and Policy for the International Rendition of Terrorists from Failed or Uncooperative States,” contributing to the 12th edition of the U. Miami International & Comparative Law Review (2004). He has also delivered comprehensive training sessions and seminars on various litigation and employment-related subjects to numerous clients.
Before joining Tentindo, Kendall, Canniff & Keefe, LLP, Mr. Slater was a senior litigation associate at a prominent law firm in Boston, Massachusetts, from 2006 to 2013. He also worked as an assistant public defender in Miami-Dade County, Florida. His impressive skills and achievements have not gone unnoticed, as he has been repeatedly featured in Boston Magazine for his outstanding handling of a wide range of complex litigation matters.
