Biography
Patrick C. Barry is a seasoned attorney with more than 28 years of experience practicing law. A trial lawyer at DeLuca, Weizenbaum, Barry & Revens, Ltd., based in Providence, Rhode Island, he prioritizes serving his clients in matters of personal injury and medical malpractice.
Mr. Barry graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990 and earned his Juris Doctor cum laude from Widener University Delaware Law School in 1996. During his time at law school, he distinguished himself as the articles editor for a law review publication and published a scholarly article on the use of scientific opinion testimony.
Over the years, Mr. Barry has earned recognition as a formidable trial lawyer and an advocate for patient safety. He has successfully led numerous jury trials, securing multimillion-dollar verdicts in cases involving medical negligence, wrongful death and severe personal injuries such as spinal cord injuries. In 2018, his exceptional skill in the courtroom was acknowledged when he was named Rhode Island Lawyers Weekly's "Lawyer of the Year" following a $32 million jury verdict in a catastrophic injury trial.
Mr. Barry has been recognized for his work in medical malpractice and personal injury. He holds an AV Preeminent* peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbell. Beyond his practice, he has contributed to the legal and medical communities through significant roles. He has also been rated 10.0 on Avvo.
From 2005 to 2013, Mr. Barry served on the Rhode Island Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline, appointed by Governors Donald Carcieri and Lincoln Chafee. He also served on Rhode Island’s Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee, appointed by Chief Justice Paul A. Suttell, which oversees the integrity of legal practice in the state.
In 2016, Mr. Barry joined the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), reflecting his skill and ethics in trial law. By 2022, he was elected president of the Rhode Island ABOTA chapter. He is also a past president of the Rhode Island Association for Justice and a former national Governor of the American Association for Justice. Admitted to Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and in the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island, he continues to lead in high-stakes litigation and advocacy for justice across various complex cases.
