My elderly father was involved in a car accident that was the other driver’s fault. (The collision totaled the car my father was driving.) He needed an attorney and asked me to help him find one. I searched for firms and lawyers with documented records of success (years of experience, high industry ratings, and good client reviews). Based on that criteria, I chose Roger Gelb and his firm, Gelb & Gelb. It was an excellent decision. Roger and his firm handled my father’s case with an expert touch. I was pleased, but I also expected this level of professionalism from them based on their reputation. What I did not expect was the high level of communicativeness from his office. Every step of Dad’s case was clearly explained to us by Roger or his team. We received timely updates regarding the developments of the case, so we never felt we were in the dark about what was going on. All forms and documents were explained thoroughly, so there was never any confusion on our part about their purpose. When we received the settlement documents, Roger had already described to me the process leading to the result, so the settlement figure was not some mysterious number. Furthermore, everything was clearly itemized, allowing me to see the full breakdown of the different fees and allocations resulting in the share payable to my father. Full transparency. I want to emphasize that I consider this degree of communicativeness to be a special level of good service. It’s one thing to do a thorough and professional job for your clients, but it’s another thing to take the time to make sure they are fully aware of what’s going on.
